During her audition for “America’s Got Talent”, 88-year-old ᴇxᴏᴛɪᴄ dancer Penny Starr Sr. performed a “unpredictable” performance that left both the judges and the crowd in awe. Penny, known as America’s senior ᴇxᴏᴛɪᴄ dancer, is considered a national treasure.
Penny, who hails from Palm Bay, Florida, appeared on the AGT stage dressed in red, white, and blue feathers. “I want to give America a real show, a get-up-and-go show!” exclaimed the energetic octogenarian.
When Simon Cowell questioned if she was single, Penny joked that she was a widow with six husbands. Simon, interested, inquired whether she was open to a seventh marriage. Penny responded with a sly grin, “Yes, but it takes some time to break them in.”
Penny began her routine to the music of “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” and as she began to lose her layers of clothing, the judges were overjoyed. Emcee Terry Crews sprinkled the stage with red, white, and blue confetti, adding to the festive ambiance. Sofia Vergara, evidently pleased, remarked, “Penny, I want to be you when I grow up,” and Heidi Klum expressed her enthusiastic support.
Simon, clearly taken by Penny’s charm, couldn’t help but flirt with the cheeky senior. He then asked a risky question that would decide her fate on the show: “Would more clothing fall off if you went forward?” Without skipping a beat, Penny assured him that she would gladly oblige.
Howie Mandel, anxious for more, said, “I want to see more!” Penny’s performance garnered her four yes votes from the judges. Despite advancing to the next round, the AGT judges were forced to reduce the competition to only 54 acts out of 138, bringing Penny’s incredible journey on the show to an end.
