Since birth, Prince George’s parents, Prince William and Princess Kate, have given him a cute nickname that he uses in Adelaide Cottage, Windsor.
Prince George is second in the line for the British throne, but his parents Prince William and Princess Kate are interested in giving him a normal childhood – even down to his nickname.
In Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, where he resides with his siblings, Princess Charlotte, age nine, and Prince Louis, age six, George, like other 10-year-olds, has a cute nickname.
The surprise nickname is derived from both of his initials and is a classic British staple. William and Kate named their baby ‘PG Tips’ after the teabag brand.
“Pals started calling Prince George ‘PG’, so the couple took the next logical step and dubbed him Tips.”, The Mirror reported.
George is claimed to be a big fan of the nickname, even going by “Tips” at his current school, Lambrook in the Berkshire countryside.
An insider told The Sun about why the Royal Family prefers whimsical aliases, “The royals are not very good at communicating with one another so this is one way around it. Nicknames are a way of taking the family tension out of things.”
“They may also be a childlike family. They enjoy playing games and giving each other goofy presents. I believe it is because they must be extremely earnest in their public lives.”
George isn’t the only one among his siblings with a cute nickname. Prince Louis’s endearing family nickname was disclosed during an engagement as part of King Charles’ Coronation celebrations.
The prince was photographed at a charity function, happily waving his sticky marshmallow stick around. Princess Kate instantly noticed and told the youngster, “Pop that in the fire, Lou Bug,” revealing the Prince’s adorable nickname, ‘Lou-Bug’.
In contrast to this name, Prince William’s endearing nickname for Princess Charlotte has a global appeal. The Prince reportedly refers to his lone daughter as “mignonette,” which means “small and delicate” in French.
An observant lip reader also captured Prince George adopting an adorable nickname for his mother, Princess Kate.
This occurred at 2022’s Trooping the Colour, which celebrated Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. Lip reader Jeremy Freeman picked up on the endearing word when George and his mother were walking to the Horse Guards Parade.
George greeted the audience and then affectionately referred to Kate as “Momma”.
The 10-year-old is close to both parents, having recently accompanied his dad, Prince William as Prince William when they attended the FA Cup final.
Eagle-eyed followers remarked that the little royal’s mannerisms were fairly reminiscent of his mother, the rest of his appearance was very much after his father, with one royal fan calling him “little William”.
