Prince Harry’s friends are believed to be “avoiding him” because of how his wife, Meghan Markle, behaves.
According to a royal analyst, Prince Harry’s former acquaintances appear to be “avoiding him” despite his recent relocation to Montecito, California.
Tom Quinn, a royal author, has suggested that Harry’s pals will not visit the Duke and his wife, Meghan Markle, because “they find Meghan difficult”. Furthermore, Tom believes Harry refuses to meet any of his old military friends since they are from the “pre-Meghan world”.
Previously speaking with the Mirror, the author explained: “Harry has a few friends from the army and from his days at school, but they are a part of the old pre-Meghan world that Harry hates to revisit.”
He added: “His military friends feel he has betrayed them by writing about his military service in such an un-military way and his old Etonian friends don’t like the new ‘woke’ Harry. Conservative with both a small and a big C, they see the new Harry as a tree-hugger with whom they have nothing in common.”
Critics also allege that Harry’s military friends were “extremely unhappy” with some of the things he made in his shocking book, Spare.
Gareth Russell, a royal pundit, told GB News that Prince Harry has previously faced criticism from the military.
He explained: “There were very clear signs from the military in Britain that they were extremely unhappy with many of the comments made in Spare and on several chat shows. I don’t think there’s any doubt that many in the military felt he had broken a code or broken protocol, and that means a great deal within the British military.”
Although the royal commentator admitted that people had a “great deal of affection” for the Prince and his work with the Invictus Games, he explained that there was controversy: “Even those who have admiration for the Invictus Games have said that they felt the comments in Spare were isolating and inappropriate.”
In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex referred to killing 25 Taliban fighters in Afghanistan as “chess pieces taken off the board”. Prince Harry wrote: “It wasn’t a statistic that filled me with pride but nor did it make me ashamed. When I was plunged into the heat and confusion of battle, I didn’t think about those as 25 people.”
Harry was not there for the wedding of one of his oldest friends last month. Hugh Grosvenor, Archie Sussex’s godfather, married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral, but the Duke was not present.
Hugh married Olivia Henson, his fiancée of two years, in a spectacular ceremony at Chester Cathedral, which Prince William attended but not his brother.
According to royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams, there was a “sadness” surrounding the ceremony because the Duke and Duchess of Sussex missed “the wedding of the year”.
He told the Mirror: “To feel you have no choice but to miss the wedding of the year is very sad. However, the deep rift within the Royal Family has ensured that Harry and Meghan were never going to accept an invitation to the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor, Duke of Westminster, godfather to Archie and a close friend of Harry. They knew William would be there, reportedly as one of the ushers.”
