EXCLUSIVE: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are apparently arranging for their two young children to attend a major royal event next year.
Despite being kept out of the spotlight and making few public appearances, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children may make their debut at a significant event in Canada next year.
According to Express.co.uk, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are busy planning the logistics for the Invictus Games opening ceremony in Vancouver in 2025, and they are considering taking Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, to the “family focused” event.
The event will take place on February 8 at 1 pm at BC Place Vancouver, and competitors can bring their families and young children with them.
The source said: “Harry and Meghan are planning to take Archie and Lilibet to help promote a new ‘family-friendly’ Invictus Games.
“The Sussexes have been very involved with the organisational elements of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler events and it was very much their idea to make this a family-friendly games so that those taking part can bring their children along.”
According to the source, the Invictus Games organizers have planned a week of “family-friendly” summer and winter sporting events to inspire sports enthusiasts and wounded veterans to engage the next generation.
It is said that Harry wants Prince Archie to carry on the heritage of the Invictus Games and take ownership when he reaches maturity. According to the source, a patronage will be passed down to Archie in order to keep the foundation inside the family. Harry insists that the Invictus Games will remain a Sussex initiative.
After a week of “family-friendly” enjoyment, the closing ceremony is expected to be a “adult only” event, taking place at Rogers Arena on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 7 p.m., marking the end of the nine-day competition.
Prince Harry, 39, is highly involved in the Invictus Games, having co-founded the event in 2014 while working for the Royal Foundation, which he later shared with Prince William and Princess Kate, both 42.
Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, visited Vancouver, Canada in February 2024 for the “One Year to Go” event in preparation for the Winter Invictus Games, where they met contestants at the Whistler Blackcomb ski resort.
Around 550 competitors from up to 25 countries will compete in events such as sitting volleyball, swimming, and wheelchair basketball at the 2025 games.
For the first time, the competition will include winter sports such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, and wheelchair curling.
The first edition of the games took place in London in 2014, and future contests were hosted in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Last year, in a Netflix documentary series about the Invictus Games, Prince Harry detailed his emotional “unravelling” after returning from military service in Afghanistan. Heart of Invictus, a five-part documentary series, chronicled the Prince’s sports tournament for troops and women.
