Nine women perform catchy line dance to ‘Sugar Sugar’

A group of Thai women performed a unique spin on line dancing to the Archies’ popular song ‘Sugar, Sugar.’

While line dancing is often performed to country music, these ladies defy the rules and do a sweet little line dance to this bubblegum pop song.

Line dancing is a choreographed dance in which individuals dance to a repeated sequence while arranged in a specific pattern of lines or rows. The dance has a history of more than 60 years.

The first true line dance took place in 1957. The Madison is a novelty dance that originated in Columbus, Ohio. As music evolved, the dance grew in popularity and took on several shapes over time.

Aside from dancing in dance halls, clubs, weddings, and so on, this form of dancing has evolved over the previous decade to serve another purpose. Line dancing has grown increasingly popular as a form of exercise.

Even in the east, as far as Thailand, elderly people can be seen line dancing in city parks early in the morning. Not only is it a fun way to stay fit, but it is also wonderful cognitive workout because it requires you to focus on completing patterns.
